How to Profile Victims and Perpetrators of Human Trafficking

Air date: October 12, 2021 2 PM Eastern

Annual domestic estimates of trafficking victims regularly reach the hundreds of thousands. To aid law enforcement in combatting this crime, Truckers Against Trafficking trains truck drivers and other transportation professionals to observe their surroundings and look out for particular characteristics of human traffickers and their victims. Profiles of victims and perpetrators are based on guidance from experienced law enforcement officers. With this partnership, officers ensure that they have qualified eyes and ears ready to provide valuable, actionable information in the service of public safety. Sgt. Zach Heard, Illinois State Police, and Kendis Paris, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Truckers Against Trafficking, join TT's Dan Ronan to discuss the cycle of human trafficking, how one's perception of sexuality can perpetuate abuses, and how impactful one person's courage can be.

TT Newsmakers is a series of free video-based conversations featuring insights from industry leaders across the regulatory, business, and economic landscapes. Episodes are hosted by veteran broadcaster and TT Associate News Editor Dan Ronan.
